John 4:46-53 Reflection

In this verse of the bible it says how Jesus cured an official's son by telling him to believe that his son will be okay. How may it differ if Jesus were to be living today in modern society? Would people believe? How would they react? Why?

  1. Today, in modern society, if any healer cited spiritual means as his form of medication he would largely be deemed as a quack. In Jesus' time people trusted in religious or spiritual practices more than they did those involving nature or "reason". This is seemingly quite illogical, but back then religious beliefs actually had more hard evidence than any natural science, religious beliefs had years of tradition and a myriad of ancient tomes as evidence for there power. I think people would still believe if Jesus came today, but he would have different barrier to break down. Back then he had to break down years of tradtion, now he would have to break down reason and logic.
